When I was a nurse, the thing I liked most about my job was all the learning that went on. Sometimes it was facts, like why people with liver disease have mottled palms. Sometimes it was practical. For example, when someone asks you for an endotracheal tube, you always answer, "What size?" Sometimes I learned human lessons like how things can be really funny and really sad at the same time. I learned to be afraid of kitchen appliances, gasoline trucks, propane tanks and trampolines. I learned how to say "testicles" in Maori - but now I've forgotten. I also spent some time in rehab. GF Strong, that is. And I learned how lucky I am to be able to get out of bed and get dressed in under three minutes, because it takes some people hours just to get their slippers on. I'm not a nurse any more, but I still love to do research and I like to keep up to date, so I thought I'd share some health info here. Hope you like it.
